Anybody can grow plants. Even if you are convinced that you can't grow plants you too can plant and raise a successful garden. The trick to gardening is to be patient, do your research and get the help you need to make sure that your garden is successful. The fact is that starting a garden that thrives involves little more than following directions and paying attention to what it is that you are growing.
Nobody has a black thumb. If you want to grow a successful garden, simply follow the instructions laid out in this article.

Starting a garden should be done during a few select times of the year. Some plants will be more bountiful when planted a few months prior to their optimal blooming time. Because a seed needs time to grow into a blooming plant, this is part of the reason. It is also because the best time to plant a seed is when the ground has thawed. Some plants will thrive if you plant them a few seasons before they are supposed to bloom. Learning when the optimal time to begin planting is crucial if you desire the growth of specific plants in your garden.
If you want to baby your plants, you can get a head start by sprouting them inside in seeding pots a few weeks or months before planting them. It is easier to control the conditions of the inside of your home and you have a better chance of growing plants that are sensitive or "high maintenance" this way. For some plants it is as easy as tossing a seed in the dirt. One of these plants is lettuce. To thrive, some have very specific needs when it comes to being cared for and nurtured.

If this is your first opportunity to plant your own garden you may want to begin with more than just a packet of seeds and some dirt. You might have better luck if you purchase plants that have already begun to sprout. This way your job is almost entirely maintenance based as you get your garden thriving. You won't need to worry as much about whether or not the plants will grow. Your only worry is keeping the plants alive. You can try your luck with seedlings next year, as you will have had some experience. Another reason for beginning with sprouted plants is some plants grow every year regardless of you having planted new seeds - the bulbs simply remain dormant until the next blooming season.

Gardening is a fantastic way to have fun outside when you are all grown up. Many people have reported that gardening is their method of working through stress and other tensions they face in their daily lives. Other people say that they love to work in the garden because it is just fun. Other people garden because it helps them save money on food they would otherwise have to buy at the store (fruits, veggies, etc). There are plenty of different reasons to start a garden. Just remember, even though you will have to work hard in your garden you will also get lots of joy from your garden.
